15 Reasons to Invest in Property in Brazil

Brazil Team Gear at Soccer.com

15. The Country of Brazil is Beautiful Diverse and Stable: There is a growing demand from people who want to have their second homes in Brazil because it is such an attractive country. It is economically and politically stable, and it is developing important infrastructure projects in its ports, airports, highways and railroads. This fact, along with the current level of international confidence in the country, is attracting a lot of foreign investors.
14. The Middle Class: The Brazilian middle class is going through a prosperous period, with growing indexes of income and employment. One sign of that is in recent data from the Caixa Economica Federal (CAIXA), a government bank, showing that those people who are younger than 30 accounted for 36% of the real estate financing deals provided by that institution in 2007. A young dynamic prosperous population ensures long term future growth in property and development generally.
13. Access to Credit: For years, Brazil's poor had little access to credit. And even if they could get credit, they could not hope to maintain payments on interest rates that were frequently among the highest in the world. That, combined with unemployment, low pay and the instability brought on by a struggling economy, led to an explosion in the number of people living in favelas (shanty-towns) scattered in and around Brazil's urban areas. But the economy has definitely turned - Brazil has had a GDP per capita increase of 8.32% for the last five years, which is currently growing slower than its Latin neighbors. However, the country has a well-maintained GDP per capita, which is estimated at US$5,518 for 2007 (mortgage loans still only occupy a very small part of Brazil's GDP, around 1.7 percent), and has also been very successful in fighting inflation, decreasing it from 14.8% in 2002 to less than 5% in 2007.
12. Favorable Interest Rates: Interest rates in Brazil have tumbled, falling from 25 percent in 2003 to 11.5 percent in 2007, thanks to a huge trade surplus and account balance from a raw material export-driven economy. Some banks are forecasting that standard lending rates will fall to 9.25 percent by the end of 2008. Both the minimum wage and workers' salaries are rising at levels that exceed the cost of living - allowing employees more disposable income - leaving households with more money for housing costs, something that can only serve to invigorate more interest in Brazil's property market.
11. Equality in Real Estate Purchases with Brazilians: In some of the world's most desirable countries foreigners are not legally permitted to purchase land or houses. In Brazil, foreigners have the same legal rights as Brazilians when it comes to Brazilian real estate. Brazil has abundant land resources, the largest economy in Central and South America and a very large labor force. Brazil has almost anything any international investor might want. The economy is on the upswing and is diversified.
10. Taxes: Associated property costs in Brazil such as taxes and maintenance costs are also low and this adds to the attraction for the investor. For a foreign investor to buy real estate in Brazil the only requirement is that they have a CPF number - which is like a social security number. And the number can be obtained within a couple of days. This number is a legal requirement as it enables the investor to be uniquely identified for taxation and title purposes. The Brazilian government has sophisticated and well developed real estate laws which protect the property owner whether they are a foreign or local owner and independent legal assistance should be sought for the entire purchase process to ensure the investor's rights are properly looked after.
9. It's the weather! Over 7,000km of breathtaking palm lined semi-virgin coastline. Near-perfect climate with average temperatures of 78 degrees, F. and a pleasant sea breeze with low humidity. Negligible risk from floods, hurricanes, earthquake, tsunami or international terrorism . Perfect for sports and adventure enthusiasts with famous wind and kite-surfing areas, world-class diving & snorkeling and deserted sand dunes for buggy riding. Beaches consistently rated in world's top 10
8. The mortgage market: Mortgages are being provided by big retail banks who retain an ownership stake in them, rather than securitize them as in America. Interest rates have fallen from around 16% three or four years ago; loan periods have grown from 12 to 30 years; and salaries have soared.
7. Oil. Last year, Petrobras, Brazil's partly state-owned oil firm, announced the world's biggest oil discovery since 2000: the Tupi field, which it hopes will produce between 5 billion and 8 billion barrels. Now the head of Brazil's National Petroleum Agency (ANP) says another nearby discovery might hold as much as 33 billion barrels, which would make it the third-largest field ever found in the world. With energy self-sufficiency Brazil is able to avoid the costs of huge swings in the price of oil.
6. Vulnerability: Brazil is less vulnerable to financial shocks than it once was. A large part of this is due to a combination of a central bank that acts independently and transparently, publishing minutes of meetings promptly on its website; and a floating exchange rate, adopted in 1999. Before then, whenever the current account deteriorated, the central bank was forced to hike rates, killing growth.
5. The World Cup. For Brazil, a country with a seemingly endless supply of football players, winning the football World Cup is the national obsession. Hosting the event, which comes round every four years, is going to bring Brazil to the world stage. On October 30th, 2007, FIFA, the world soccer's governing body, confirmed that the competition will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2014.
4. An improving environmental picture: Since the international environmental movement in the 1990s, an awakening of environmental consciousness among Brazilians, and even among some of the country's politicians, means that attitudes are at last starting to change. One aspect of the increased environmental consciousness is an awareness that nature attract tourists (and their dollars).
3. Currently the 10th Largest Economy in the World, Brazil will be the 5th Largest in 2050 as ranked by Goldman Sachs. When Brazil reaches its paramount in 2050, the beach property prices will be the same everywhere in the world. It is expected that beach property will continue to increase in value rapidly until 2050. This economic growth and stability creates international demand. It solidifies Brazil as a great place for real estate investors.
2. Safety: Is Brazil a safe country? One of the urban myths that surround Brazil is the question of safety and security. In fact, Brazil is no more dangerous than the main cities in Europe or North America. Most of the bad press about violence in Brazil relates to the gangs operating in the slums in Rio and Sao Paulo. Even in these mega cities, most of the crime is between the gangs and crime against tourists is extremely rare. Being sensible and streetwise is the key to trouble free and enjoyable stay anywhere in the world, including Brazil. Brazilians are further known to be very friendly people and it is extremely rare to see aggressive behavior from Brazilians. In fact, what you will see more than anywhere else in the world is a lot of smiling and dancing!
1. Brazil offers some of the best values in the world when it comes to buying and developing property.

World Cup Spread Betting - Give African Fans a Chance

What is the point of holding a World Cup on the continent of Africa if the people of Africa can't get access to the matches? Ticket sales on the continent by FIFA's own admission have been poor to say the least. While around 1million tickets have been sold in South Africa its self only around 40,000 tickets have been sold to fans in the other African countries. I think you'll agree that is very poor considering there are around 3 million tickets on offer. While prices in South Africa were reduced the rest of Africa had to pay the same price as everyone else.

With prices starting at £54 for the cheapest tickets this may well be beyond the reach of the average African. FIFA's decision to sell tickets over the internet would have also caused problems as internet access in Africa would be severely limited to the ordinary fan, as would access to a credit card to make the transaction. With 6 teams on show at the finals from Africa, 40,000 is a pretty poor turnout but once again that is not the fault of the fans, it is the fault of FIFA. They are now saying they will have to get their house in order for Brazil 2014. We are right with you on that one Mr Blatter and Co. Get it sorted.

Enough ranting for one day, back to other news on World Cup spread betting. It looks like Cesare Prandelli is set to take over from Marcello Lippi as Italy coach after the World Cup finishes. Prandelli is currently the longest serving coach of any in seria A having been in charge at Fiorentina since 2005.

In transfer news today, Franck Ribery is set to stay with Bayern Munich for a further 4 years according to German paper Bild. Man City are set to up their bid for James Milner to 30m from 20m but with Chelsea looking to enter the race, the lure of the Champions League may sway his decision if he decides to leave Villa. Steven Gerrard is said to be fed up with manager Rafael Benitez, and let's face it most people probably are, and is on his way if the right offer comes in. Should have gone in 2005 and not got all sentimental over winning the Champions League. He would probably have a lot more trophies in his cabinet. There are no great signs of Liverpool doing anything in the near future.

Lots of South American players in the news today with Ancelotti keeping an eye on Kaka, Man Utd considering a18m bid for Luis Fabiano, and also having a hands off warning placed on Sergio Aguero. Alex Ferguson has said that Berbatov is not for sale and that he will be there next season. Juventus, AC Milan and Wolfsburg are all said to be tracking the Bulgarian striker. Benitez says he wants to bring Raul to Anfield. Let's face it Rafa, if you're not going to be there best leave it to the new broom.

And finally you can now kit yourself out in England's official World Cup suit. Get yourself down to Marks & Sparks and take a look. It is said to be a throw back to the styling of 1966 and was designed by a Saville row tailor instead of some flashy designer. Won't you look smart down the pub with all your mates, saying things like "excuse me referee. I think that may have made a mistake just there" and "Does your good lady wife spend a lot of time out of the house in the evenings".

Good Times For The Brazilian Economy

China is not the only country receiving so much attention among the world's emerging markets. While this country may have a larger profile as the world's second largest economy, Brazil is likewise making waves in the news headlines.

It is among the fastest growing markets today, bucking global trends and remaining resilient in the face of a global financial crisis.

While the developed world is in the midst of uncertain times, Brazil's banking system and its economy in general are receiving accolades for its robustness. One such accolade was given by the Financial Stability Forum last 2009 in Basel.

The Eurozone crisis and the slowdown in the US may temper the growth of this BRIC economy, but its fundamentals remain in-tact and poised for continued growth. To illustrate this, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has predicted a year-on-year gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 3.6 percent for 2012. In contrast, the financing institution predicted growth rates of 1.8 percent for the US, 1.7 percent for Japan, 0.6 percent for the UK, and even a contraction of 0.5 percent in the Eurozone.

Brazil is rich in resources as it, along with the rest of South America, is considered to be the world's breadbasket. The presence of what is believed to be about 50 billion barrels of pre-salt offshore reserves near the southern coast of Brazil may also set the country up to be a major exporter of oil and gas. Potential oil discoveries are also currently being investigated in the northeastern side of the country.

Economic Development And Growth

More specific signs of economic development are also present.

Tourism in Brazil continues to be a significant source of income for the South American country, which enjoys enticing beaches and 290 days of sunshine all throughout the year. Brazil also has a large number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, beaten only by five other countries in the list of 130 territories evaluated by the UN World Tourism Organization.

Likewise, major sporting events like the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics have ushered in billions of dollars in infrastructure investments that would help the country's economy become larger in the long run through tourist inflow and job creation.

Brazil has also made extra efforts to liberalize its property markets and allow foreign entities to get access to them. Laws have been significantly relaxed in order to accommodate landlords and the real estate industry and they've simplified their labyrinthine sets of laws that was only stalling further growth.

As a result, analysts are now seeing an unprecedented rise in property prices, which has then positively affected the construction and mortgage sectors. Exame Magazine reports that apartment prices across the nation have risen by 24.7% in April 2011 as compared to the same month a year before.

Even then, Brazilians are still relatively debt-free. Secured lending in Brazil is only equivalent to about 5% of its GDP. Meanwhile, the US has 68%; Mexico, 11%; and Spain, 45%.

Leveraging real estate properties through mortgage finance remains a difficulty for most foreign investors interested in the real estate market. However, this is rapidly changing with the introduction of developer financing programs and foreign property investment mortgage products.

However the two youngest players in the tournament could be facing in South Africa 2010, from if they include their trainers in their line-ups. Christian Eriksen, from Denmark (MF), Vincent Aboubakar, from Cameroon (forward), both 18 and are ready to be on the pitch on 19 June for what could be as "The Clash of the Kids". Rio De Janeiro Is A City Of God

"God created the world in six days and on the seventh day, he created Rio de Janeiro"

Brazilians sayings

Rio is an awe-inspiring city where impossibly steep granite mountains rise from the ocean between glorious stretches of golden sand. Brash skyscrapers vie for space with impeccable colonial buildings, and lush forests tumble down hillsides into densely populated residential areas.

Its diverse cultures and people live in varying degrees of wealth or poverty. Rich exclusive areas stand in stark contrast and close proximity to the slum areas or favelas. But no matter what their background or economic standing, the Rio's residents are characterized by a passion and enthusiasm for life.

The cidade maravilhosa (marvelous city) revels in life, with the beach, football, samba and Carnival the principal diversions. High above all this fun and frivolity are Rio's ever-present landmarks - the statue of Christ the Redeemer on the summit of Hunchback Mountain and Sugarloaf with its historic cable car.

As well as these twin icons, Rio boasts a wealth of attractions and activities, plus great food, music and entertainment - enough to keep a visitor busy for any length of stay.A natural port of the Guanabara Bay in southeast Brazil, the city was founded by the Portuguese on 1 January 1502. They named it Rio de Janeiro (River of January), under the mistaken impression that it was an enormous river mouth. Since then, it has grown to a city of over 6 million people, with a further 5 million in the greater metropolitan area.

Migrants find that the city has more than its fair share of social problems. Attempts have been made to curtail crime, but visitors should remain alert to petty thieves.

In the 1960's, the capital was moved from Rio to Brasilia, in an effort to decentralize the power found in Rio. All the jobs associated with such political power transferred to the interior of the country. This, along with a slowing economy and increased economic pressure from Sao Paulo, Rio is trying to redefine its role in the Brazilian economy.

Beachfront property in Rio de Janeiro is by far the most popular investment and give very good rental returns of 8-10% per annum. There is a developed Brazil property market (http://www.brazil-property.co.uk/) and properties in Rio de Janeiro offer beachfront property in Copacabana beach and Ipanema beach. Property in Ipanema offers stunning views to the Atlantic Ocean. Rio is visited by millions of international tourists land here each year, making the buy to let property investments very realistic indeed.

From a record low in 2002, the Brazilian Real has doubled in value against the US Dollar and rallied against other world currencies, so the country is not as cheap as it used to be. However, Brazil is still affordable and gaining in popularity - 2007 saw a 15% increase in visitors, mainly headed for Rio. With Brazil set to host the FIFA World Cup in 2014, that trend is likely to continue.

In Rio's summer (December to February), temperatures regularly reach 40ºC (104ºF) or more. When the heat is on, tourists should follow the Brazilian example and hit the beach rather than rush around. These months are also peak season - not only are international flights more expensive, but domestic travel and hotels are charged at a premium and get booked up quickly.

A Biography of Ronaldinho

If you think of soccer tricks, Ronaldinho is one the first names that comes up in your mind. He is the typical Brazilian street soccer player, but better. Ronaldinho seems to have total control over the ball and he makes it look so easy. But how did he come so far? Well, here is his life story.

Ronaldinho's youth

Ronaldinho Gaúcho was born on 21st March 1980 in Porto Alegre, Brazil. He was born in a family of soccer addicts. Ronaldinho and his family lived in a wooden house in a favela. His father, João de Silva Moreira, played for Esporte Clube Cruzeiro, a local soccer club. To get by, he worked as a car park attendant at FC Gremio. João also worked in a local shipyard.

Ronaldinho's sister, Deisi, works as his press coordinator. His older brother, Roberto, now works as his manager.

Roberto showed a lot of soccer talent at a young age as well. When he signed a contract at FC Grêmio, he and his family moved into a villa in the more sophisticated and developed part of Porto Alegre, Guarujá. Life was good for Ronaldinho and his family. But when Ronaldinho was eight, his father suffered a fatal heart attack in the villa's swimming pool. To make things even worse, Roberto had to stop his soccer career after a bad knee injury.

Ronaldinho developed a special interest in futsal and beach soccer, this is probably where he developed his excelling technique. At this time, he got his nickname 'Ronaldinho', which means 'little Ronaldo'. The reason behind this name is the fact that he was almost always the youngest and smallest player on the field.

Ronaldinho's first breakthrough

Ronaldinho really started to make a name for himself at the age of 13 when he scored all 23 goals in a 23-0 victory against a local team.

Ronaldinho was signed by FC Grêmio to play in their youth squad. He was considered a wonder child from the age of 17. He played for the Brazilian U-17 squad at the U-17 WC in Egypt in 1997. He scored his first goal from a penalty in the 7-0 victory against Austria. He scored a total of 2 penalties at that tournament. Ronaldinho won the Bronze Ball at this tournament.

Ronaldinho's coach in the youth squad of FC Grêmio was Liam Higgins. He debuted in Grêmio's senior squad in 1998 in the Copa Libertadores.

From that point, Ronaldinho's career went fast. In 1999, he played a lot of international matches. He was part of the Brazilian Youth Squad in the FIFA World Youth Championship. There, he scored his first goal in the group stage. He then scored twice against Croatia in the 1/16 final. Brazil was eliminated by Uruguay in the quarterfinals.

On 26 June 1999, Ronaldinho earned his first cap for Brazil in a 3-0 win over Latvia. Three days later, he took part in Brazil's successful Copa América campaign. After the Copa América, Ronaldinho played in the Confederations Cup. He scored in every match but he missed the final against Mexico due to an injury. Brazil lost that match 4-3.

Moving to Europe

In 2001, Arsenal showed interest in Ronaldinho. They were close to signing him, but the transfer was cancelled when Ronaldinho wasn't able to obtain a work permit due to a lack of caps.

To gain some international experience, Ronaldinho wanted to play on loan at Scottish St. Mirren. This move was also cancelled because Ronaldinho was involved in a fake passport scandal in Brazil just recently. But in the end, he did get his transfer to Europe when he signed a 5-year deal at Paris Saint-Germain.

Ronaldinho participated in the World Cup in 2002. He formed a magnificent trio with Rivaldo and Ronaldo. Ronaldinho scored twice. Due to a suspension, he had to miss the semifinal. He did play in the final which Brazil won in a 2-0 victory over Germany.

Back in France, PSG's coach, Luis Fernández, claimed that Ronaldinho was more into the city's nightlife than into soccer. Nevertheless, Ronaldinho dreamt of playing in the Champions League or the UEFA Cup. When PSG failed to qualify for either tournament in 2003, Ronaldinho decided it was time to leave PSG.

Ronaldinho's move to Barcelona and his final breakthrough

In 2003, Ronaldinho moved to Barcelona. Barca was initially trying to sign David Beckham but when Beckham moved to Real Madrid, Barca's president, Joan Laporta, outbid Manchester United and brought Ronaldinho in.

Ronaldinho suffered from various injuries during his first half year at Barcelona. When Ronaldinho returned, he helped Barca to the second place in the Primera Division. Ronaldinho won his first league title at Barca during the season of 2004-2005. He was also named FIFA World Player of the Year in December 2004 and he was chosen for the UEFA Team of the Year.

Ronaldinho became a father on 25 February 2005. The mother of his son is the Brazilian dancer Janaína Mendes. Their son is named João after Ronaldinho father.

In 2005, Ronaldinho was chosen over Frank Lampard and Samuel Eto'o for another title of FIFA World Player of the Year. He also received a place in the UEFA Team of the Year for the second consecutive time. To honor Ronaldinho, he got a 23-foot tall statue in Chapecá, Brazil. Later that year, Barca was eliminated in the Champions League by Chelsea in the first knockout round after a 4-2 loss. Ronaldinho scored both goals for Barcelona.

Brazil won another Confederations Cup in which Ronaldinho played as Brazil's captain. Ronaldinho was named Man of the Match in a 4-1 victory over Argentina. Since that tournament, he shares the title of all-time scorer in the Confederations Cup with Cuauht'moc Blanco of Mexico. Both scored 9 goals.

Barca offered to extend Ronaldinho's contract until 2014. This deal would earn him EUR85 million in 9 years but Ronaldinho turned this deal down. In September 2005, he agreed on a 2-year extension with a minimum-fee release clause of EUR85 million.

After scoring two of the three goals in El Clásico in 2005 against Real Madrid, Ronaldinho received a standing ovation from both Barca's and Real's fans.

In 2006, Ronaldinho was chosen for the UEFA Team of the Year for the third consecutive time. In the same season, he contributed to defeating Benfica and AC Milan in the Champions League Quarter Final and Semi Final. On 17 May 2006, Barcelona defeated Arsenal with a 2-1 win in the Champions League Final. Barca also won their second consecutive title. Ronaldinho scored 26 goals in all competitions during the season of 2005-2006. He was also named Champions League Player of the Year.

Ronaldinho, Kaká, Ronaldo and Adriano formed the most feared attack at the 2006 World Cup. In the end, they were very disappointing. They only scored 5 goals, Ronaldinho only gave 1 assist. Brazil was eliminated in the quarterfinal against France after a 1-0 loss.

Injuries, critics and Ronaldinho's breakdown

After their elimination, Ronaldinho and the rest of the Brazilian squad were heavily criticized by the media and the fans. Ronaldinho's statue in Chapecá was destroyed by unsatisfied fans. Later that day, Ronaldinho and Adriano returned to Ronaldinho's house in Barcelona to have a party. They were spotted in a nightclub that same night, which caused the fans to accuse Ronaldinho of a lack of effort.

In the season of 2006-2007, Ronaldinho scored the 50th goal in his career. Barca finished second in the World Cup for Clubs after losing 1-0 to Internacional. Ronaldinho did score a goal and gave two assists in the 4-0 win over Club América. Ronaldinho also won the Bronze Ball Award.

Ronaldinho has only capped 3 times in 6 months under head coach Dunga. In 2007, he scored twice in the 4-0 victory over Chile. These were his first goals for Brazil since the 2005 Confederations Cup.

Brazil won the 2007 Copa América but Ronaldinho wasn't called up to participate. Later that year, Ronaldinho returned too late in Barcelona after a friendly match between Brazil and Ecuador. Ronaldinho and several other Brazilian internationals celebrated their win in Rio de Janeiro. To punish him, Barcelona put him on the bench for the next match.

Ronaldinho also finished 3rd in the running for the FIFA World Player of the Year, behind Fabio Cannavaro and Zinédine Zidane. Ronaldinho also won a place in the UEFA Team of the Year for the 3rd consecutive time in 2007. In March, Ronaldinho suffered from an injury in the 3-3 draw against Real Madrid.

Ronaldinho played his 200th match for Barcelona against Osasuna in 2008. Another injury ended what would be his last season at Barca.

In 2008, Ronaldinho was called up for Brazil's squad at the Summer Olympics 2008. Barcelona blocked this move because they were still competing in the Champions League. When Ronaldinho moved to AC Milan, he still got to play in Beijing as his new employer did accept the move. Ronaldinho scored 2 goals in a 5-0 win over New Zealand. Brazil finished 3rd and won a bronze medal.

Ronaldinho played a very disappointing season after his excellent seasons at Barcelona. Critics and tabloids were after him. The fans expected him to play like he did during the last two seasons but Ronaldinho just couldn't reach that level anymore.

Ronaldinho's move to AC Milan

During the transfer period, Manchester City showed concrete interest in Ronaldinho. The deal was of after Ronaldinho rejected a EUR25.5 million deal. Ronaldinho eventually moved to AC Milan for EUR21 million. He scored his first goal for Milan against rivals Internazionale in a 1-0 victory on 28 September 2008. He also scored the winning goal against Braga in the UEFA Cup group stage.

Ronaldinho still hasn't found the form he had during the period between 2004 and 2006. Many people argue on why this is. Some say it's because of his injuries, others say he isn't focused on his career and loves partying more than playing top soccer.

But no matter what the reason is, Ronaldinho has proven himself. People from all over the world would come to Barcelona just to see him play. Kids scraped together their allowance to buy a Ronaldinho-shirt. Despite what all the critics say, the chances are small we will see another player like Ronaldinho in the next 10 years.

Minha Casa Minha Vida - Investing in Brazil

Brazil is regarded as the 7th biggest economy in the world and has been selected to host the 2014 FIFA World Cup. It is an excepted fact though often ignored that when countries are awarded the hosting of major sporting events like the World Cup or the Olympics that it is a clear sign of an economy that is booming.

Brazil is currently experiencing a tremendous growth phenomenon. Principle factors including a relatively strong economy and politically stable environment have indeed attracted many investors from all over the world.

Holiday homes and tourist accommodation are usually popular among investors, though now may not be the best time to invest in these following the direct impact of a global economic downturn. Perhaps the best approach would be to look at developing valuable holiday spots in prime locations with a view to reaping the benefits long-term as the demand grows with improved economic stability.

Having that said - Brazil does have another trick up its sleeve when it comes to property investing. Minha Casa Minha Vida is the name of a huge project which aims to meet the increasing demands of affordable housing in Brazil. The idea is to make housing as accessible as possible to lower-income groups within the population. This makes investing in local residential real estate in Brazil an attractive and safe opportunity that will continue to grow and promises high returns further ensured by the high demand in this case.

Year to year prices of the local housing in Brazil suggest a consistent increase up to 20%. Investors who strategically position themselves within the circle of this development will certainly be able to reap extensive rewards and also sell their properties for higher expected returns.

The government of Brazil needs to exercise special consideration over a growing shortfall of affordable housing for its citizens and is therefore welcoming foreign investors. The target is to be able to provide an estimated 37 million houses and this they hope to achieve by 2030.

The Minha Casa Minha Vida programme is expected to look into all areas of the country where the population is concentrated in large numbers. They are experiencing a huge deficit of housing. This in turn has even greater implications for the kind of development that needs to take place there. Investors will no doubt continue to benefit as the programme extends into the future.

To get started into the Minha Casa Minha Vida programme investors need to fork out a minimum of $74,000. This initial investment will see a 50% profit in just two years and is tax exempt in Brazil.

Now That the 2010 World Cup is Over, What Next?

The 2010 FIFA world cup in South Africa has come and gone, and everyone's attention is now focused on the next host, Brazil. All satellites are now directed toward South America where the action would be, come 2014. Everyone expects Brazil to perform better than South Africa.

The expectations are quite high because Brazil is the home of football; in fact, football is a culture in the South American nation. Having won the world cup more than any other country (has won 5 editions) and being the only country to have participated in all editions, the world expects to see something unique come 2014. Besides, they have won the U-17 cup for keeps; they have won the U-20 and have also won several editions of CONCACAF nations' cup.

It is also the home of the popular Maracana stadium; and boasts of a well organized league with teams like Corinthians, Santos, Sao Paolo, Vasco Dagama, etc that have always given a good account of themselves at the club world cup tournaments. They have a population advantage (over 200 million people) and a lot of football enthusiasts.

South Africa has surprised the world by organizing a hitch-free tournament; they provided world class facilities - 8 standard stadiums, smooth roads, standard telecommunications system, 5 star hotels, tourist attractions, adequate security, etc thereby setting the pace that would be difficult for the next host to equal.

They provided something that was unique and in a sense African - the Vuvuzela, that would never be forgotten in haste; and the Jabulani football that was both problematic and fun. What should we expect in Brazil? Would they give us something that would make the Samba dance a thing to remember? What kind of football are we going to see there? I am sure FIFA now knows that the idea behind the Jabulani ball did not really work - the ball did not lead to more goals being scored; rather, it led to most of our stars failing to perform and score goals. It made Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney, Aguero, Fernando Torres, Frank Lampard, Osaze Odiwingie, Obafemi Martins, Cesc Fabregas, etc. unable to score at least a goal, because of its slippery and directionless nature.

We hope the 2014 host would be able to provide adequate security to players, officials and fans. They confirmed at South Africa that they had started preparations for the next edition. Let's therefore hope we shall be seeing better stadiums, better roads, better communication systems and nice hotel accommodations. Brazil cannot afford to perform less, because the world expects much from her.

All About The World Cup Soccer Tournament

Soccer is one of the largest, most watched sports in the world. It is a sport that has no boundaries, cultural or international, and as such, the World Cup is the largest sporting event in the world. It only happens once every four years, and that only helps boost it's popularity. To grasp how large it is, in 2006, FIFA estimates over seven hundred million people watched the final match of this tournament. To put it into perspective, that's twice the population of the USA.

The World Cup is one of the few sporting events that is played globally. As so many teams are from so many different countries, this makes the location of the event very important. FIFA tries to alternate the hosts between countries in Europe and the Americas. Historically, it has been held in many participating countries, from Brazil, to Italy, to the United States, to Germany, as well as many other countries. It has been scheduled in Brazil in 2014, in Russia in 2018, and in Qatar in 2022.

The World Cup has a diverse and interesting history. The foundations were being laid in the early 1900s, with FIFA being founded in 1904. FIFA's initial desire was to arrange a tournament for countries outside of the official Summer Olympics, but did not have true success in breaking away from the Summer Olympics for a few decades. In 1928, FIFA decided to stage a world championship under its own name, with no Olympic attachments, and after much planning, the first ever world cup was held in Uruguay. After the first FIFA World Cup tournament, soccer during the Summer Olympics dropped in popularity and people started to focus more on FIFA's tournament. The World Cup ran smoothly until World War II, when the games were put on hold due to the short and long term effects of the war. They resumed in 1950, after a twelve year hiatus and have been happening every four years without incident since.

As far as how the tournament works, it is a pretty straightforward process. The world is divided into six regions: North and Central America, Africa, Asia, South America, Oceania, and Europe. There are regional qualifying tournaments in each of these areas and a predetermined number of winners from each region are sent to the actual World Cup, where there are thirty two teams. The teams then go through two stages, the group stage, followed by the knockout stage. From there, one team is determined the overall winner.

How benefit Spain from the 2010 World Cup?

This year, Spain won the World Cup. The world observed while they play their way to victory after a month in hard and win against their competitors. The country will be obviously affected by this victory, as the World Cup is a huge victory, not only for the winning team, but also for the country of Spain.

The World Cup is a competition between the members of the Federation International de Football Association or FIFA, the World Cup or the World Cup called. In 1930, was the World Cup every four years, with the exception of 1942 and 1946 due to the second world war.

The very first international match was in 1872 between Scotland and England in Glasgow. At this time played football primarily within the UK. However, when the soccer more popular with other countries grew, was it obviously had to be an official competitive sports. It was first in the Olympic Games worked, but due to the differences of opinions and rules, soccer finally got his own tournament.

In the years between 1934 and 1978, there were 16 teams that competed in the competition. 1938 Austria was a part of Germany and therefore the number of teams was reduced and 1950, Turkey, India and Scotland withdrew, reducing the number of teams for this year. In these early years was it's most difficult for the teams to travel and so many countries not taking part. In 1982, however the number of teams to 24 increased and again in 1998 the number of teams 32 increased to.

Until 1998 has the host of the event between America and Europe changed. The event was to host that event and also the first year for two countries cooperate in 2002 by South Korea, and Japan, in the first year for an Asian country shoot the event place. South Africa hosted of the event in 2010 and Brazil is the tournament 2014 hosts be. Only three teams have won the World Cup outside of their continental Confederation: Brazil in 1958, 1970, 1994 and 2002, 1986 Argentina and Spain in 2010.

Due to their, their struggles to win the World Championship was not only a surprise, but a step in the right direction for Spain. The country was literally thrown into a maelstrom of patriotism, hope and romance because of the hype and success of the this year's event; In contrast to have known them for a few years. World Cup Coaches Who Did NOT Play Football

2010 South Africa FIFA World Cup is fast approaching. Football fans all over the world are no doubt looking forward to the big event that only comes about once every four years. This summer, from 11 June to the final in July, the world will be taken by storm with 32 teams competing and billions watching. 2010 FIFA World Cup is the first ever World Cup Tournament that will take place in Africa. The continent will host the World Cup and will take center stage for a month. So will the 32 teams who will be competing there to win the world cup and declare themselves the ruler of the soccer world.

Football is played on the pitch for 90 minutes but never starts or ends there. The preparations takes months and forming a good, functioning and effective team does not only depend on players but the also on the coach managing the team. The effect of the coaches on the team and the game is usually a curious discussion point. Some say that the game is played on the pitch and the coach effect is never more than ten percent. Others argue that the coach and his tactics are the maker or the breaker for the team. This will be a never resolving issue. What is true however is that the coaches are the first to blame whenever there is failure.

There are 32 countries participating in the world cup and they will go to South Africa after many qualification games that they have played to eliminate the rest of the world to reach the finals. Each country made their best effort to come to South Africa and when starting the campaign for qualifications, they chose the best coach they think is fit for the job. When you look at the list of coaches of the teams attending the tournament this summer, there is a striking domination of ex football players who are now in charge of the teams. Of the 32 teams, 30 coaches have actually played professional football in their day.

There are of course more famous ones like Diego Maradona, the Argentinian coach, or Carlos Dunga, the Brazilian. There are also less known or local ones like the Honduras coach Rueda or Ricki Herbert the New Zealand coach. But they all kicked the ball in the professional sense. The question that comes to mind is 'Do you have to be an ex player to be a good coach?' or rather 'Are all players also good coaches?' Looking at the list of coaches of the 32 teams, you have to say yes.

However, let's look at the 2 coaches that have always been coaches and not ex players. Namely, the United States coach Bob Bradley and Brazilian Carlos Alberto Parreira coaching the hosts South Africa. Bob Bradley is 52 years old and have been coaching soccer since 1981, almost 30 years. Which also means that he started coaching when he was 22. His first post was Ohio University. After coaching at the university level until 1997, he started his Major League Soccer career. Until 2006, when he took over as the coach of the United States, he had successful seasons with Chicago Fire, Metro Stars and Chivas USA. Bradley was only named as the interim coach to be the future national manager perhaps for the 2014 finals. When the first candidate, Jurgen Klinsmann talks fell through he was named as the interim coach. Although many saw Bradley as a second choice, he quickly went about building a strong foundation for the team, introducing younger players to the squad and approaching the job as though he already was, or would soon become, the permanent manager.

In 2009, Bradley led the U.S. team to a 2nd place finish in the 2009 Confederations Cup, including a 2-0 victory over the world's number one ranked team and European champions Spain, ending their 35 game unbeaten streak and 15 game winning streak.

The second coach at the world cup who is not an ex football player is Carlos Alberto Parreira. Parreira was born in 1943 and started his coaching career when he was 24. He was only 25 years old when he took charge of the Ghana team. He managed many teams since then and actually participated in 5 World Cups so far. In 1982, he coached Kuwait and lost two games and drew 1-1 with Checkoslovakia. In 1990, he was leading United Arab Emirates and lost all three games. Four years later, he was holding up the world cup proudly with Brazil. 1998 saw Parreira coaching Saudi Arabia without any notable success. At the last World Cup in 2006, he was back in charge of Brazil but could not put its mark to the tournament. Brazil lost to France and could not reach the final of the tournament.

Now, Parreira is back with South Africa, the hosts. They are playing a fluent game and no doubt they will be raising some eyebrows when June comes. Both Parreira and Bradley did not play football professionally but both are successful coaches and have impressive careers and much more to promise. We will see and follow them both to find out their performance against the other 30 coaches, all ex football players. The world cup is the scene to decide on the discussion point, we will know if you really need to be a football player to be a top coach.

FIFA Summit Fails to Disguise Brazil 2014 World Cup Problems

Comment - FIFA Summit Fails to Disguise Brazil 2014 World Cup Problems

FIFA 2010 World Cup Will Be First Event in History to Involve 1 Billion in British Bets Alone

The World Cup, which starts on Friday and will have a large economical influence in nations far outside the host country South Africa, stands out as the biggest occurrence in British sports betting history, bookmakers mentioned the other day.

"The World Cup will smash all gambling records, becoming the first sporting event to produce a 1bn-plus pound betting turnover," said Graham Sharpe of William Hill. Sharpe's estimate is for British-based bookmakers exclusively.

The prior most gainful wagering occurrence was the 2006 World Cup, which Sharpe claims involved earnings of "towards 1bn pounds, but below 1bn pounds. Hopefully this time we're being conservative in our estimates and it could be much more than 1bn pounds."

William Hill - certainly the market overall - would benefit from England going quite a distance, but at long last losing. "I'd say we're really in an 'anyone but England' situation in terms of biggest margins," Sharpe explained.

Patriotic punters in England swell bookies' coffers by betting on England, normally about 15-2 to win the Cup. England are fourth favourites at the rear of Spain, Brazil and Argentina. The longer Britain stay in, the greater money is bet on them, and the more the sports books will turn a profit so long as they ultimately lose.

Hills states one of their customers flew to London strictly to position a bet of $85,000 (59,000 pounds) on a World Cup accumulative wager involving six nations either to qualify or not to be eligible from the group periods of the match. For the wager to win, Argentina, Germany and Italy must all be eligible from the group stages while Algeria, Japan and Honduras neglect to do so. A winning end result should net the punter 139,000 pounds.

Hill also have applied a 10,000 pound gamble on Italy winning the World Cup from a Scottish customer in Glasgow. "The bet was placed over the telephone at odds of 16-1," Sharpe mentioned.

Yet another William Hill client, from Lytham St Annes in Lancashire, has staked an 8,824 pound double on Brazil winning the World Cup this year and in 2014 at odds of 16/1, that will win him 150,008 pounds if it comes off. The identical punter also staked a 5,173 pound double on Argentina to win this year and Brazil to win in 2014, at odds of 28-1, which could profit 150,017 pounds.

Why To Visit Brazil

Brazil: Why To Go

Brazil is a fascinating and diverse country and is currently considered the fourth largest tourist destination in North and South America. There are many reasons why to go, but the main attractions for tourists are ecotourism, leisure, adventure travel, historic and cultural tourism, as well as recreation in the sun and on the beaches. This article will talk about some of the most popular attractions in the vast country that is Brazil.

The Amazon Rainforest

Over 60% of the Amazon Rainforest is located in Brazil, with other parts of it stretching into Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana. It is considered one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. It covers a territory of 1.4 billion acres. The Amazon Rainforest is often called the "lungs of the Earth" as it is responsible for the oxygen production of most of the planet.

Tourism to the Amazon Rainforest is made exciting by the vast and virtually uncountable biodiversity and is one of the biggest reasons why to go to Brazil. The rainforest is home to millions of species of plants and animals, some of which are completely unique to the area and have not evolved anywhere else. In fact, as much as 20% of all the world's species of flora and fauna are to be found in the rivers and jungles of the Amazon.

There are many ways to explore the Amazon. One of the most popular is to live there. Local communities and villages run services for tourists that have been dubbed EcoLodges. They provide many different opportunities and styles of living, from luxury hotels and villas equipped with swimming pools, air conditioning, phones and saunas, to the rugged and wild setting of huts that are built close to the ground from natural materials such as wood or jungle vegetation.

It's also possible to take cruises in the Amazon that traverse the length of the rivers. These can be anywhere from a multi-day cruise to just a few short hours. You can also do many activities in the Amazon, such as helicopter or small plane bird's eye view flights, sky-diving, boating, fishing, hunting and even deep jungle exploration.

Brazilian Cities

The number one tourist destination as a city in Brazil is Rio de Janeiro. It's name means "River of January" in English and is often just called "Rio" for short. The city was the capital of Brazil for over 200 years starting in the 18th century and was the base of operations for the Portuguese colonization efforts in South America.

Rio is a vibrant and bustling metropolis that encompasses many different cultures and histories - Indigenous, Hispanic and African. It is famous for its carnivals, samba, Bossa Nova, beaches and stunning landmarks such as that of the statue of Christ the Redeemer which greets visitors towering over the mountain overlooking the bay.

One reason why to go to Brazil, especially in the upcoming years, is because it will be the host of the 2016 Summer Olympics. Brazil is undergoing major developments to prepare for this event and will also be hosting the final match of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. In the next few years and in the future, Brazil is definitely the place to be.

Brazil is an amazing country and is cleaning itself up for the Olympic and World Cup in 2016. Matt has visited the country many tips and has excellent tips on visiting Brazil and it's most popular destination, Rio De Janeiro.

Some Insights About the 2010 Soccer World Cup Teams

The soccer world is about to be on stage for the biggest and most popular contest in the world: The 2010 Soccer World Cup. For the first time in its history, the World Cup will take place on the African continent. South Africa will host FIFA's nineteenth World Cup. For a month (6/11-7/11) thirty-two teams will compete for the most cherished trophy in professional sports: The golden world cup. This is the second time that the World Cup will not be held either in the American continent nor the European continent. The only other time the event was held away from either continent is in Korea/Japan in 2002. South Africa will put in display ten different stadiums from ten different cities throughout the country. Although here are issues about security, poverty and protest, the 2010 World Cup will hopefully present the best South Africa has to put forward. Its natural beauty and cultural diversity will be available for the entire world to appreciate and embrace.

Fortunately all of the traditional powers will be present for the event after concerns that countries like Argentina might miss the party. A much improved South African side should also provide a lot of excitement for the locals, especially since they have chosen to play the very successful Brazilian style. The mascot of the 2010 FIFA World Cup is "Zakumi". Zakumi is a yellow leopard with green hair, hence reflecting the colors of the host nation. Will South Africa continue the tradition of the host country qualifying for at least the second round and maybe flirting with an appearance in the Finals? Or will we see heavy favorite soccer world cup teams like Brazil, Holland, Spain and Italy in the Final Four? With gifted African sides like Ghana, Ivory Coast and Nigeria playing on their own soil, the 2010 competition guarantees to be an exciting contest filled with surprises and unexpected results. I am looking forward to a very successful FIFA 2010 World Cup. Why not? Maybe we will witness the crowning of an African nation for the first time in history.

Here are a few of the favorite soccer world cup teams.

Argentina. After struggling to qualify and nearly missing the World Cup for the first time since 1970, Argentina is still one of the favorite world cup teams to win the title in South Africa. With some of the most exciting players in the world in Barcelona's Lionel Messi or Tevez from Manchester city, Diego Maradona should have enough talent to be in the running for the cup. Argentina is scheduled to play Nigeria, Korea, and Greece. No easy task. One remembers what happen to Argentina in 1990. Both Nigeria and Greece are solid world cup veterans that will not be intimidated by the Argentinean style of play. However, Argentina should be able to dominate. Who will be the surprise winner in this group? North Korea? Greece? Argentina? In terms of sheer talent, Argentina is strong enough to win.

Germany. Germany's inferior performance at home in 2006 was not well received by the hardcore fans of the "Die Mannschaft". The three time champions have always been considered a solid threat to the title. The physical style of the Germans usually overwhelms their opponents. The joy of hosting a world cup since the unification of the country, and the pride that was displayed throughout Germany in 2006 was not fully reflected in the play of the national team. Germany started very well, but for whatever reason had difficulty keeping up with faster and more skilled opponents. As a result, despite a beautiful display of Germany's culture, the team managed to finish third. After a fairly easy qualification to the 2010 tournament in South Africa, the Germans will have to deal with Serbia, Ghana and Australia. The Ghanaians are a surprising favorite for this year's competition, but the team that might steal this group is Serbia. The former Yugoslavian republic is going to its first world cup, but will not be intimidated by any of the participants in the group. It will be very difficult to dispose of the Serbians, and this may be the most difficult group in the contest. We are in for some very competitive football as well as very hard physical matches. Watch out for this group and its games.

Brazil. Once again, Brazil is considered one of the favorite team to win it all in South Africa this year. Having been either in the finals or semi-finals of the last four world cups, it is difficult not to assume that the Brazilians will be there once again. Since 1994, Brazil has been in three finals, winning two cups and losing to France in Paris in 1998. With the marvelous pool of talent to pick from, such as Kaka, Ronaldinho, Fabiano, Robinho and Lucio, Dunga's challenge will be to find the right mix and chemistry. Brazil's style has always been beautiful to watch and entertaining. The individual skills has always been spectacular, but at times difficult to merge into a cohesive unit. If Dunga is able to find the right mix of players and have them play together at a high level, Brazil will be very difficult to beat and should defend another title in their home turf in 2014. The "selecao" breezed through the qualifiers and finished on top of the South American group. The only team that has been in their way so far has been France. The French beat the Brazilians in the finals in Paris in 1998, and then beat them again in the quarter-finals in Germany in 2006. If not for the French, we could have been witnessing a four-time world champion defending their title in South Africa.
